The simplest way to measure your yard is by breaking the area up into basic shapes such as squares or rectangles. Determine the area of each section (length x width), then combine them to find the total square footage. We recommend adding an extra 5% to cover any unforeseen adjustments.
1 pallet (540 sq. ft.) = 1,600 lbs to 2,100 lbs (+/- ~700 lbs based on moisture levels)
Pallet sizes vary but are about 4 ft. wide by 4 ft. long by 4 ft. tall. A standard pallet contains 540 square feet of sod.
No! Sod is perishable so we do not accept returns. Selling extra on Facebook is a great option, if you do it right away.
As sod is perishable the sooner you lay it the better.
Spring/Fall – Within 24 hours
Summer – Same day
You can mow your lawn 2-3 weeks after installation. We recommend mowing a little higher than normal the first two times you mow.
You should wait 4 to 6 weeks after laying new sod to fertilize your lawn. This allows it to establish a strong root system. Applying fertilizer too early (within 30 days) can burn the delicate, shallow roots. Once the sod has rooted—meaning you cannot easily lift the turf—apply a starter fertilizer.
We recommend a 15-15-15, nitrogen/phosphorous/potassium fertilizer. Spring, summer & fall: 5 lbs / 1000 sq ft.
If the fertilizer has been incorporated into the soil, it will work. If the fertilizer has not been well mixed into the soil it can burn the sod.
